About Me
I’m Hannah,
a history-obsessed writer who made folklore my entire personality…
During the process of writing my first novel (a folklore based historical fantasy set in England) I began to understand how deep into the past the history went, and how much of this had been left out of our current understanding. This led me to begin my own research and documentation of the folkloric history of England. One novel became a series of seven, and I’m usually found glued to my laptop as I allow this story to write itself.
I made the decision to document my research journey as I know there are others like me, equally obsessed with English folklore, and I have uncovered a lot that feels too good to keep to myself. This is my way of sharing my findings and journey, as I prise apart historical fact from folkloric fiction. My research has shown me that folklore is critical to our understanding of ourselves as human beings. What I share isn’t just about telling stories, but exploring why the story developed and how it managed to survive the generational jump into our modern day.
I’ve been a writer as long as I can remember. I have a Masters in Creative Writing, where I specialised in creative fiction in an attempt to appease my then unmet creative urges and hone my skill as an author and editor. This allowed me to develop my writing and editing to a publishable standard.
While currently writing my own novel series, I also love to support others who have a story to tell:
As a 1-1 writing mentor - I guide clients to research and create worlds which feel believable and rich with lived experience. I help shape and hone processes and keep writers’ motivated to complete their work when they’re beyond the ‘this is the best idea ever’ and approaching the ‘what am I doing I have no business writing here’ stage.
As an editor - I work together with writers to develop the story they already have into a fully formed and coherent creation.
As a ghost-writer - I work with clients to create a work of fiction or non-fiction which joins the world fully-formed, as their own creation. Inspired ideas should not stay trapped inside the mind of someone who doesn’t have the time or experience to create it themselves.
As a folklore writer and researcher - I write articles on popular folklore topics and the explore why this is significant for the modern reader.
